Labour migrants in healthcare

HIT Foundation is executing a quick scan on migrant workers in the health care sector in the Netherlands. The quick scan intends to show whether hospitals need more knowledge on working with foreign personnel, for example on recruitment, diploma’s, work permits, housing and language barriers.

Through a brief survey among Dutch hospitals and intermediaries an overview will be given if Dutch hospitals have recruited medical staff abroad for specific functions over the past two years because they were not able to fill these positions within the Netherlands or in the border regions. The quick scan will also identify how foreign staff is recruited and whether hospitals expect to recruit foreign staff in and beyond 2012.

The results of the survey will be presented in the spring of 2012.
